Eating Disorders

Are you obsessed with “counting calories”? Have you gone from one diet to another? Do you rearrange food on your plate without eating it? Do you use laxatives for weight control? Do your eating habits reflect your moods? If yes, then you may have a food addiction.

People with a food addiction have abnormal eating habits, are always on a diet, leading to either insufficient or excessive food intake. A food addiction can have serious and long-lasting consequences for a person’s health.

Ironically, food addictions sometimes also called eating disorders aren’t about food at all. They’re about using food to feel in control—and to cope with painful emotions such as anger, self-loathing, vulnerability, and fear. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy and other treatment methods to address unhealthy eating behaviors and the unrealistic, negative thoughts that fuel them. I help clients recognize their emotional triggers and teach them how to manage them in appropriate ways. I also teach clients the value of good nutrition, and healthy weight management.

But most importantly, I go beyond the symptoms of food addiction to address the underlying causes such as childhood trauma and low self-esteem. To learn more about my food addiction program, contact me at (866) 769-9219713-542-4649.
