WELCOME TO MY UNIQUE COUNSELING SERVICES
What I do: I provide confidential counseling for individuals who wish to make changes in their lives. I work with common issues such as relationship problems, mood swings, anxiety, depression, stress, and domestic violence.
I work with individuals who have been affected by an addiction and want to turn their lives around. I work with their families and friends that want to heal. Dependencies I address include: Alcohol, Drugs, Pills, Food, Love Addiction, Love Avoidance, Sex, Internet, Texting, Gambling, Work, Sensation-Seeking, Shopping, Debt/Spending, Suffering, Self-Injury, Hoarding, Religion, etc.
I work closely with Co-Dependency.
I am known to work well with adolescents. I find solutions for parents who have come to their "wits end".
Sometimes people come to me because they just need someone safe to talk to.
I do "coffee shop counseling"... an informal, less expensive type of counseling, but still confidential and very effective.
My philosophy: Alcohol,
drugs, sex, food, pills, depression, over-eating, etc. are not the problems; they are the
symptoms. They are what people are using or doing to help themselves cope with
the problems. When the underlying problems are discovered and treated, there is no
need for alcohol, drugs, pills, inappropriate sex, binging on food, or other dysfunctional behaviors. The reason why most other programs fail and their clients relapse is because they treat the symptoms - not the underlying problems.
The goal of therapy is to get to the bottom of why you are using or engaging in those unwanted activities and to stop the behaviors that have had devastating effects on you and those around you. The goal of therapy is to create more of what you do want in your life: healthy relationships, meaningful time with family and friends, increased productivity at work or at school, feeling comfortable in your own skin, and sustained peace of mind.
